Why do we keep waiting for the right moment?

Some ideas stay with us longer than people do.

We think about them, perhaps tell someone about them, and eventually say: “I’ll do that when things calm down a bit.”

But when do things actually calm down?

There is always something missing

Sometimes it is time. Sometimes money. Sometimes experience. Then we tell ourselves we first need to learn something, buy something or become a little braver.

And sometimes nothing is really missing at all.

Except that one moment when we begin.

I know that feeling well. I have plenty of ideas: stories, videos, music, projects and things I have wanted to try for a long time. In my head they can become pretty big.

So big that the first step suddenly looks harder than it really is.

A beginning can be unspectacular

Perhaps we do not need to know straight away how everything works.

A video does not begin with a thousand viewers. A story does not begin with a finished book. A journey does not only begin at the airport.

Sometimes something begins simply by opening a file, writing the first sentence or spending ten minutes finding out whether an idea actually feels right.

You do not need to know where the whole path leads today. One next step is enough.

The beginning does not have to impress anyone.

It only has to happen.

What could already be possible today?

Think of something you have wanted to do for a while.

Not everything that might be needed one day.

Just today.

What beginning could fit into ten minutes?

Perhaps a message. A note. A first paragraph. A walk. A little research. Or finally creating the file that so far has existed only in your head.

Ten minutes may not change your life yet.

But they can turn “someday” into “I started”.

What are you still waiting for?

Tell me about it. Maybe we know that “someday” better than we would like to admit.
